What can I say? Rovers players put their hearts into this one. We were met by a team as determined to stop the recent defeats as we were to win. Great display of football by all concerned. Apologies for my little outburst. In my defence, I was hit in the face by one shot and then went out to block the next which did hit my arm. My arm was firmly against my side and I had in no way deliberately handled the ball. The shot in the face got the adrenaline flowing and I vented that after the hand ball shout by "Three Lions". Thought Nige played well today, but so did practically everybody. This is the most difficult shout for MOTM yet.

To MB and other contributors to this week's reports: pure genius. Congratulations to Athletic. Stanman did a great job in Hodges' absence through the season and, as always, was vocally encouraging from whereever he was. Well done but bad luck Austin. To the 2 people I didn't foul last night, it's only January... There was so much about last night's game that reflected a lot of the season: - a seconded Rovers player had a very good game for Athletic. Last night it was Marsh. In the past, it's been Eadon and RNH
- controversy at both ends
- some very good movement and passing at times
- Rovers' lack of ruthlessness in front of goal matched by a determined set of Athletic bodies (as opposed to an athletic set of determined bodies).
- despite 30 players on the pitch, large empty areas in the middle
I'm glad that Rovers got back into the season as it was looking quite pathetic at 1-5. It's just a shame we only began to sort things out then and find some rhythm. Anyway, that was a great game and a fun season. Roll on next week!

Well done to Ian Hodges' Athletic on their title win, and well done to Rovers also for their second half of season fight back. I can't wait to see who my teammates will be from next week. Come on you ?
